FARTY BIRTHDAY!

Dad came to wake me up yesterday morning. It was his birthday, so I wished him 'sleepy birthday'. Then I heard someone in the room fart, so I wished him a 'farty birthday'.

I'm unhappy today. I scored 100 marks in my English dictation, but the teacher didn't give me a sticker. She told me that it was because I had forgotten my dictation book and had to do it on a piece of loose paper.

Dad was wondering why I scratched out the mark using a pencil. I started crying. I didn't much feel like doing any more homework tonight, and crawled into bed. Dad came into bed beside me, and tried to make me feel better. He told me he was very pleased with my result. I explained it to him I was sad because teacher didn't give me a sticker. He said he was happy with my 100 marks, but I wouldn't stop crying.

Dad told me its normal to have times when things go well. He said I will get 100 marks again soon enough, and that the important thing was to have learned a lesson and do better next time.

Dad took me to see Uncle Roger today. He booked the appointment after I visited the dentist with school and it was found I had some cavities Two of my permanent teeth received fillings, and that more were necessary.

Uncle Roger told Dad that the observations were true, but that there was no point fixing the milk teeth, because they will fall out eventually. He also said that one was so far gone that any attempt to fix it could result in abscesses and pain.

Mum wouldn't let me use the new electric toothbrush that Santa gave me for Christmas, but Dad asked Uncle Roger if he thought it was OK to use it. Dad was told that there were advantages to both manual and electric bruising, and I should use both methods. Now I have to brush my teeth twice a day. :-(

2011 Speech Festival

I took half day off from school on Thursday. Mummy took me to Chai Wan, where this year's Speech Festival took place. I had been preparing a poem to recite for nearly two months. It was a fun poem:

My appraisal
"All Wet"
by Tony Johnston.

Tommy had a water gun,
He squirted it at Jimmy,
At Jamie George and Jennifer,
and Katie Kim and Timmy.

He squirted Sally on the nose,
he squirted Molly on the toes,
he laughed and thought it lots of fun...
til Sammy got him with a hose.

I didn't win. :-( Mum said I spoke it too quickly; I didn't do any actions. The judge gave me 80 marks; the person who came first got 85 marks.

Prizegiving at school

Today was a special day at school. I was awarded a language prize by my teachers :-) Mummy, Gong-gong and Po-po all came to see me collect my prize. They took loads of pictures with Mum's camera, but now there's no trace of them anywhere. Someone must've deleted them (Mum says it's not her, but she knows who). Humpf!

The school reports came out last week too, and Mummy and Papa said they were very proud of me for getting 17 full marks on my report card (out of 20). They took me to the toy shop, and I got to choose my reward.

Turtle is dead

Turtle died on Wednesday. It happened in the night. We found him dead when I woke up. I was very upset. I was all alone when I got home from school; Shirley was preparing dinner. Dad found me crying when he came home, and promised we would bury him together. Dad put our friend in a box and put it in the fridge so that it wouldn't get too smelly.

Theodore said he had a plan for the burial. Today, after rugby training, we went to the park near our flat. Theodore chose a few spots and tried digging. It didn't work, so he found a spot under a hedge. Then he and Dad dug a hole; I helped scrape out the earth. When the hole was deep enough, Dad placed Turtle into the bottom. I helped cover him up with soil.

Theodore then wrote 'Turtle 2011 RIP" on a pair of wooden chopsticks, and drove it into the ground covering our dead pet. We cried; we were also bitten many times by mosquitos.
This is a map I drew of where we buried Turtle

Teeth

Theodore and I went to see Uncle Roger last week. He had to make two temporary fillings in my teeth, again :-( I told him my front tooth was wobbly, and he also told me I had an eruption (sounds painful), and explained it meant a new tooth was pushing the old one out. He said it would take a month, but it came out in two weeks.

My front tooth was wobbly on the way home from school yesterday. I had it in  my hand when I got home, but I dropped it downstairs in the lift lobby, and couldn't find it. Papa, Theodore and I went back downstairs after dinner to look for it. Luckily, Theodore found it very quickly.

Papa told me to put the tooth under my pillow for the Tooth Fairy to find,  in the morning, I discovered $100 where my tooth was. :-)

Sports day

Instead of the usual rugby training today, I took part in a rugby festival at our home ground hosted by Tai Po Rugby Club. Because we were celebrating Papa's birthday with Grandma and the Gugus at lunch today, we had to leave early. I don't know if I will get a participation medal for it next week – I got one when we played at our own festival, and at the one organised by Hong Kong University.

After lunch, Papa, Theodore and I competed in the swimming gala at our Club. I swam 25m kick and came first, and Papa tried to explain to me why I received a silver medal, like the one he got for finishing second. He said something about heat, which I didn't understand. Theodore won his back-stroke race, but didn't get a medal. He was a bit upset too. Somebody said he had a false start, whatever that means... Sai Gugu said she would complain because the marshalls didn't stop the race.

Fight

I had another fight with Theodore on the way to kids' Gallery today. He's much bigger than me, and usually gets his way.

Shirley was in the front seat, while we were in the back; Maya's crayons were there in the back. We both wanted to draw, so were fighting over crayons. As usual, Theodore won. He grabbed a crayon and stabbed me in the forehead. Mr. Wan told Theodore off, and Papa was not pleased with him when we got home. He told Theodore that I could have been blinded by the pencil.

Cavities

School's out. Mummy was worried to see black spots on my teeth, so Papa made an appointment with our dentist. Mummy and Papa took me and Theodore to see Uncle Roger this morning.

Theodore's teeth were fine, but Uncle Roger looked  in my mouth and reported 4 cavities – two on each side of my mouth, two on the top and two on the bottom. Only one of them was large enough to be fixed, so he put some filling in it for me. He told me I had to go back during the summer holidays. :-(

Party

I went to my school friend Maxine's birthday party yesterday. She is four. It was a Chinese themed party, with Pipa performance and ribbon dancing. She had a beautiful cake.

Jean-Marc

I went for a long walk in the countryside where Jean-Marc and Hélène live. They have a big house, a pond with two ducks and many fish. There's also Margeurite the cat and Lotus the dog, and a big bear whose name I do not know.

On our walk, I saw fields of wheat, played in the fields; I was pleased to see a rider on a big horse.

I was tired afterwards I slept on the way back to Paris.

Back to school

I missed a whole week of school because I was ill. I was very hot in the head, and a nasty cough followed. The doctor told me to stay at home. I ate little, and did not want any medicine for two days. For the whole week, I got to watch some television, but still got very bored and I got up to all sorts of mischief. Yesterday, I ransacked Lorielyn's room, and Mummy sent me to my own room. I then got tearing at the paper on my wall - Papa was very unhappy.

Papa decided that we both needed a haircut! Théodore said he wanted to be bald, so that's what I also wanted too. ;-) Papa cut our hair quite short, but we both liked it.

outside my classroom on my first day
Today was the first day at the same school as my brother. I think Mummy is relieved I don't have to stay at home any more. My teacher is Miss Qiu, Papa says she was Théodore's teacher last year.

Visit to Uncle Roger

Mummy and Papa took me and Theodore to see grandpa's friend Uncle Roger today . Uncle Roger's a dentist. I sat in his chair and he had a look at my teeth. He said my teeth were perfect:-)

We all stayed at home on Friday; Papa didn't have to go to work. There was a lot of rain, and a lot of wind. Papa said there was a direct hit on Hong Kong by typhoon Nuri.

I have a new school friend who lives in the estate across the road. Mummy invited her over for a play date on Sunday. Mummy baked us a big chocolate cake.

School starts

No more Kids' Gallery for me, I started school one week ago.

It is not so hot right now, so Mummy and Papa decided to take us to the beach on Sunday. I slept all the way there on the bus.

It's summer, and I ask Papa to take me swimming. I have started taking lessons, and now enjoying putting my head in water and doing a few strokes.

My party

Mummy and Papa gave me a lovely firetruck, with a little man, for my birthday. I love it! Theodore keeps trying to snatch it from me. Papa told him to let me enjoy my present today, on my birthday.

Mummy and Papa arranged a fantastic party for me, inviting all my school friends. Nathalie, Ramona, Sahib, Wai Wai, Way Lian, Pak Yin, and Lok Lok came. We all sat together and made cookies.

Our parents all helped out, and we had a great time. My friends brought me lots of lovely presents :-).

Big bump on the head

I've been at home most of the day yesterday with Lorielyn, while Mummy and Papa took Theodore on a school outing. I was so excited to see them when they got back. Sitting on the back of the sofa, I lost my balance and fell backwards hitting my head on the floor. Mummy and Papa were really worried because I vomited. Luckily they didn't have far to go: they took me to the hospital right next door. After waiting an hour and a half, I was X-rayed. Mr Doctor said I had concussion and was probably OK, but told Papa to look out for some warning signs.

I was fine today, and went to school as usual this morning.

Tiananmen Square

We went to Tiananmen Square today. It was very cold.
